Garage Projects

Three Car Garage, Workshop, And Toy Storage:

Before:

This garage was struggling to fit 3 cars, a workshop, and outdoor toys for 2 kids – we needed to create space fast. Mom and I did a thorough purge together and then I finalized the organizing on my own. We mainly re-purposed or re-used storage bins the family already owned, purchasing only two storage shelves to aid in our space creation.

Before:

The workshop portion of the garage had purely become storage with no usable workspace. The cabinet interiors were also a little wild and had little or no categorization to help keep things easy to use. With some light purging, but mainly re-working the interiors and categories, this workshop is once again functional!

Before & After:

One shelving unit was added to the back wall, housing all the car related garage items, as well as extra storage bins, and some holiday decor. By hanging the ladder on the wall we gained floor space for the corn hole set and umbrellas.

The other shelving unit was used to house all the fun stuff. The bottom shelves are kid accessible and friendly where as adult sports are on top. All ready to play!

Garage and Storage Room:

This garage has a wonderful storage room that was under-utilized and allowed clutter to spill into the main garage space. With the addition of some chrome shelving, bins, and labels – the clutter was eliminated and we were able to bring this client’s entire Christmas decor collection out of the attic.

A mini helper shelf was added next to the door as “loading zone” for getting shopping from the car and into the house.

Each shelving unit was separated by its own category – these two represent Tools+Auto and Gardening.

Christmas Storage:

The Christmas storage took over the other two shelving units. Wreaths were put into new wreath holders and the tree got a new bag that could be wheeled in and out of the house. Larger arrangements were bagged to prevent dust and dirt.

Small Garage Doing Triple Duty:

This little garage needed to pull triple duty functionality for this young couple – holiday decor storage, overflow home storage, and they were about to receive a ’74 Sport Spyder that somehow also had to fit. This was also done as a surprise for the Mrs – so the purge/donate pile remained in order for her to have a last say once the surprise was revealed.

The challenge with this project was how many items needed to remain in the garage while still ensuring that the car could fit – so we created a walk-through aisle system in the back so that all shelves are easily accessible.

Before:

After:

By measuring the car (and a little extra space for opening doors) it was clear how much space could be taken up. This client already had two metal shelving units in the garage, so we added 4 more to keep a cohesive look. We also added 4 wall shelves to house garage specific items.

Before:

A major priority was increasing accesibility and visibility.

Categories were established by shelving so that finding + putting away is easy. This is the Christmas shelf – all binned, labeled, and located together!
