Organization – Little Girl’s Room+Closet

This Mom was tired of cleaning up tiny things constantly and wanted a lovelier closet for her little one – but sometimes it’s easier learning cleanup techniques from a new friend than your Mom. This little lady and I went through these spaces together deciding how best to organize her things and teaching how to fold, organize, and separate!

This project consisted of two spaces – the playroom and the closet.

The Playroom:

Having this little one participate in the organizing not only teaches in the moment, but gives her a true sense of ownership over the system, ensuring her ability to keep it. She even applied the labels to her bins and was VERY proud!

Part of this plan included moving this desk from the playroom into the bedroom to allow for more floor-play space!

The Closet:

Before

This closet has a wonderful amount of space and built in shelving, but it needed some containment. It is also a place for play (as you can see by this scarf creation), so providing a real spot for play was important.

After

This little lady and I pulled everything out from these shelves and categorized. Then we separated by bin and even color! She had a great time learning how to file fold and color organize, and was so surprised to see how many pink and purple tees she had – they are their own bin!

All hanging clothing were re-hung on new pink velvet hangers by category and color. All shelved items were binned by category and labeled. And a hidden little reading nook was added below!
